Phillip W. Renfrow

Principal

AIA

Phillip is a Principal and Founder serving as the managing principal.  As a design leader he participates in multi-disciplinary teams focused on crafting architectural solutions unique for each client.  “We have never specialized in a building type or character.  That absence of specialization encourages a fresh approach + active listening + active questioning to better understand what drives our clients.”

He has developed skills from grocery store clerk to accounting student to architect. Those skills now craft a variety of projects with a focus on urban solutions, infill of the urban fabric, preservation and adaptive reuse involving small, individual projects to complex campuses. Each project he directs is unique – from small, transformative spaces to entire environments.

He is known for advocating his clients’ needs, sustaining and embracing the environment, and in telling their story. “Our design work reflects traces of time as part of our owner’s story – new and old must exist together. Creative solutions are never driven by what’s in style but how this story of time and place best illustrates our clients’ purpose to build.”
